Beluga Chartering GmbH files for insolvency

Beluga Chartering GmbH slides into insolvency after HCI terminated their cooperation without previous notice

On 16 March 2011 Beluga Chartering GmbH filed for insolvency at the district court Amtsgericht Bremen. For Beluga Shipping GmbH and Beluga Fleet Management GmbH there are no such files at the moment. Nonetheless an insolvency of the parent company Beluga Shipping GmbH might follow, as the legal office KWAG Kanzlei für Wirtschafts- und Anlagerecht (Bremen) states in a press release.

After the Hamburg-based issuing house HCI has withdrawn 20 vessels from Beluga, further operation of the Beluga shipping company is doubtful. This means they terminated charter agreements about vessels chartered by Beluga Chartering GmbH without previous notice. The carriers shall be sold elsewhere in the market. But no vessels means no income for the Beluga shipping company.

Beluga Chartering GmbH forms the core business of the Beluga Group – freighting their own fleet with project and heavy load. The company covers also the operation of ship journeys.
