OOCL orders six mega container carriers

OOCL Orient Overseas Container Line from Hong Kong about to restructure its vessels sizes

 

The Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) from Hong Kong has given the starting signal to enter the market segment of the operators of mega container vessels a few days ago. The enterprise has comissioned the South Korean ship yard group Samsung Heavy Industries with the construction of six 13,000-TEU container vessels. With regard to the growing world trade this transaction was further reinforcing OOCL’s commitment to more offer customers more efficient service concepts and to reduce environmental impacts, they announce in a short press release.

OOCL is one of the world’s largest container transportation and logistics companies, servicing the major east/west trading lanes. Their liner services are linking the economic centres in Asia, Europe, North America, the Indian sub-continent, the Middle East as well as Australia and New Zealand. The services are marketed in a network of more than 270 offices in 60 countries.
