Logwin picks and packs Bosch-workwear

Logwin takes over logistics for custom ordered workwear of employees of Bosch in Germany

On behalf of its client Steinmüller GmbH, Logwin is warehousing and picking and packing workwear since January 2012. The warehousing and picking was relocated from Tutzing on Lake Starnberg to Mönchengladbach 650 kilometres away. The handled goods are polo shirts, vests, and jackets for employees of the technology and services company Bosch.

Steinmüller manufactures the clothing for its customers in Asia and embroiders a majority of the items with company logos there. A small part is sent to Tutzing in Southern Germany for finishing. Until a few months ago Tutzing was the centre for logistics activities operated by Steinmüller themselves. As the order volume continued to increase, Steinmüller required an external partner – Logwin – to handle logistics for the technology company’s workwear.

According to the Logwin-management there were two reasons to decide for the Mönchengladbach location: the containers from the port in Rotterdam travel a shorter distance and the better geographical location for shipping to the 30 final destinations in Germany, two in the Netherlands, and one in Spain.

Logwin receives about one container each month at its Mönchengladbach location with the embroidered textiles from Asia. Logwin employees inspect the amounts and quality when the goods are received and then warehouse the clothing. Approximately 300 square metres of space are available for the Bosch workwear. Shipments leave the Logwin warehouse every day, totalling about 200 per month.
