OOCL slight decline in total transport volume
Deterioration of total transport volume of OOCL in all sectors except Intra-Asia/Australasia
The total transport volume of Orient Overseas Container Line (Hong Kong) remained almost stable in the first half of the year compared to last year; this illustrates the half year report. The company registered just a slightly decrease in total transport volumes by 1.5% to 2.55 million TEU.
The Trans-Atlantic total volume experienced a significantly decline by 7.2% down to 197,264 TEU. Moreover the transport from Asia to Europe dropped as well (-2.7%) to 414,869 TEU. The only sector with a slightly increase are the transports between Intra-Asia/Australasia. Loadable capacity increased by 1.8% compared to the first half of 2012. The overall load factor was 2.4% lower than the same period in 2012. Therefore the overall average revenue per TEU decreased as well (-2.2%).
Compared to the first half of 2012 the total revenue went down slightly; from USD 2.88 billion to USD 2.77 billion. The most dramatically decline registered the Trans-Atlantic sector by 10.3%. Despite of the slightly decrease of total transport volume between Asia and Europe, the revenue shrank sharply (-6,9%).
