Opening of rail connection to industrial part Kematen/Ybbs

Industrial park in Kematen an der Ybbs in Lower Austria is now directly linked to the Westbahn-rail route as of now

In Lower Austria a new rail connection was inaugurated on 18 May. Dr. Petra Bohuslav, provincial councellor for economy, technology, tourism and sports, opened the track officially in the presence of a great number of guests. The 1.5 kilometres route was built with an investment of around EUR 6 million. This rail track links the industry park to the Austrian Westbahn-railroute.

The main user of the rail track will be Riedler Kies- und Bau GmbH & CoKG. The family company wants to handle a major part of its cement procurement for the transport concrete plant in Kematen an der Ybbs on the railway. Managing director Koloman Riedler expects an annual volume of 15,000 tons when talking to the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. More rail tracks are linked to the new plant of the Böhler-Uddeholm Precision Strip GmbH and the location of the Metran Rohstoff-Aufbereitungs GmbH, a company of the Müller-Guttenbrunn group.

The industry park Kematen an der Ybbs was established in 1998 as a joint project of ecoplus, the economic agency of the Land Lower Austria, 22 communities from the Mostviertel-region and the bank Hypo NÖ Landesbank. In the meantime the area hosts five enterprises, two more are direct neighbours.
