Port of Koper handles considerably bigger cargo volumes

Container and automotive terminal in the Slovenian seaport of Koper in top form in the first half of 2010

The Slovenian seaport of Koper feels an upward trend in cargo throughput again. In the period from January to June 7.78 million tons of in- and outgoing goods were handled at the quay facilities. This is an increase by 22 per cent on the previous year, as the Management announces in a press release.

The port registered the most important increases in the container and automotive segments. Container business shows a total value of 221.841 TEU in the half year-report, which is a 46 per cent increase on the first six months of 2009. Throughput at the automotive terminal improved by 32 per cent to 175,394 vehicles.
