Strengthening of the scientific basis in the fields monitoring of flowing water and river engineering

Last week the newly established Christian Doppler laboratory (Innovative methods in the monitoring of flowing water, modeling and river engineering) at the University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, was inaugurated in the presence of numerous guests from science and industry. The research program shall reinforce the management of the Danube waterway. Financing is secured for the next seven years by via donau – Österreichische Wasserstraßen-Gesellschaft mbH, Christian Doppler Research Association and UWITEC Sampling Equipment. The new laboratory is headed by university professor Helmut Habersack.

Research work in the new department for applied basic research has begun on 1 May. The core competence is the support of ecological water engineering projects.
