Prangl masters heavy lift transport to Ausseerland

Following delivery by Prangl: Stern & Hafferl is to start operating the new company Altaussee Schifffahrt with a solar vessel

A solar vessel was recently transported by Prangl from Saarland (Germany) to Altaussee (Styria). The aluminium catamaran was built in 1998 in the shipyard Österreichische Schiffswerften AG Korneuburg, and is equipped with around 60 m² solar modules. Its draught of 65 centimetres, it is well suited for the particularities of the lake Altausseer See in Salzkammergut, Styria. The ship was previously anchored at lake Bostalsee in northern Saarland.

Transport to Ausseerland was carried out by the family enterprise Prangl from 19 to 21 April. First the 40 metres long, 4.2 metres wide and 4.1 metres high cargo piece was loaded at Bostalsee on 19 April, and then started its journey to Salzkammergut.

“The transportation from Saarland to Altaussee was a logistic challenge, which the experts of Prangl have well solved“, says Ing. Josef Berger, vice head of Stern & Hafferl Verkehr Altausseer See.

After one year without shipping on the lake at the foot of mountain Loser, this season it is also the first solar catamaran to be used in domestic passenger shipping. The operator of the newly founded Altaussee Schifffahrt GmbH is the traditional family enterprise from Gmunden Stern & Hafferl Verkehrsgesellschaft m.b.H.
