60 years of Hafen Hamburg office in Vienna

Port of Hamburg reports significant increase in goods flows with points of departure or destination in Austria in the year 2010

The Hafen Hamburg Marketing e. V. (HHM) office in Vienna is celebrating its 60-years-jubilee these days. HHM’s CEO Claudia Roller and Head of the Viennese HHM office Alexander Till took this as an opportunity to organise a port event at the Heurigen restaurant Wolff in Neustift am Walde in Vienna. More than 350 Austrian business partners followed the invitation to the event that took place on 4 May.

Austrian enterprises have been important partners of Hamburg’s port industry for 60 years. Following a slump in 2009, last year sea cargo transit has risen significantly again. Total volume 2010 amounted to around 2.6 million tons, as Alexander Till confirmed to the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. Containers with points of departure or destination in Austria that were handled in Hamburg amounted to around 260,000 TEU. In the current year the port aims to surpass the benchmark of 300,000 TEU for the first time.
