Quehenberger Logistics Russia expands its fleet

Services for the automotive industry and comprehensive customs services make Quehenberger Logistics a top forwarder in Russia:

Quehenberger Logistics Russia is taking the next step to improve its service standard. To be able of better satisfying the demands of Russia’s booming automotive industry, and ensure supply of the production also during peak times, the enterprise adds ten megatrailers and thus expands its own fleet to 33 trucks. The vehicles can carry a volume of 100 cubic metres. As for light supply parts such as car seats, bumpers and interior panelling, they can significantly reduce transport costs.

Quehenberger Logistics has been providing Russian domestic procurement logistics to a big automotive plant in St. Petersburg for several years. Moreover the enterprise organises supply from western Europe to a plant in St. Petersburg on behalf of a international car supplier, as well as the supply of the VW plant in Kaluga and the Hyundai factory in St. Petersburg. A reputable producer of tyres placed an order at the company for warehousing and forwarding of car and truck tyres in Moscow including national distribution in Russia.

In its function as customs broker, Quehenberger Logistics Russia handles more than 90 per cent of the customs declarations via internet. In May 2011 remote customs declaration was introduced at the border crossings between Russia and EU-countries (Finland, Estonia, Latvia).

This action was based on the customs union between Russia, Byelorussia and Kazakhstan, which became effective as of 1 July 2011. Thus transport controls between these countries become obsolete and are shifted to exterior borders. In parallel general cargo traffic is gaining importance. According to the enterprise this is due to the short-term supply of the industry and producers of consumer goods, who want to improve their warehouse locations also in Russia.
