Felbermayr launches heavy haulage vessel in Linz

Felbermayr the European-wide acting provider of heavy lift logistics solutions increases its “fleet”

In March the internationally operating transport and lifting technology enterprise Felbermayr has launched a heavy haulage vessel in Linz. With the start of operation scheduled for April the „fleet“ will be considerably enhanced on the waterway. Adaption works of the river vessel started in autumn 2010. Around 200 tons of steel were used for changing the dry goods freight vessel into a heavy haulage ship.

Also worth mentioning is the equipment of the steering cabin with a scissors lift. This ensures a goods overview also with big loads on board. The ship’s bow was reinforced on the external side. Horst Felbermayr: „The bow allows loading and unloading the ship with a ro-ro ramp. The ballast space can be filled with water if necessary to vary the vessel’s draught, as e.g. to cross bridges." By means of two stilts controlled by hydraulic cylinders the 85.6 metres long and 10.4 metres wide ship can be fixed even within the current of the river.

The Felbermayr corporate group with its headquarters in Wels is represented with 47 locations in 14 European countries. Special and heavy lift transportations, mobile cranes and lifting platforms rental as well as building construction, civil and special civil engineering form the core activities.
