RCA: Contract logistics division becomes European Contract Logistics
European Contract Logistics as the new umbrella brand for contract logistics to expand the position of the Rail Cargo Group in the segment of general cargo
The Rail Cargo Group’s contract logistics division is to operate as an autonomous company in the future. In the coming weeks all national and international contract logistic operations will be joined under the new umbrella brand European Contract Logistics – Austria GmbH (EC Logistics) and restructured. From December 2013 contract logistic operations are completely joined in the new company, which is an organisation of the ÖBB-Holding AG, said Günter Birnstingl and Otto Schiel, managing directors in a press release.
As full service provider for the entire supply chain European Contract Logistics shall expand the leading position in general cargo logistics. Warehousing with more than 120,000 pallet slots as well as offers in full and part load transport are covered in the product portfolio.
The Rail Cargo Group’s contract logistics division is operating in the domestic area and abroad, and has established as full service provider in general cargo business since 1987. It is a strategic important business segment of the ÖBB group. The aim of the restructuring is sustainably ensuring profitability through efficient combination of transport and storage logistic services. “This enables EC Logistics to join capacities in the national and international market, and act stronger in the markets on behalf of our customers“, reads a letter of the management.
