British Airways has renewed its contract with Kuehne + Nagel for the import of in-flight wines for another three years.

Originally awarded in 2004, the contract covers the timely, transparent and cost-effective transportation of wine to the UK from multiple origins across Europe, Australia, South Africa and South America. In addition to renewing the existing contract, British Airways has also appointed Kuehne + Nagel to manage sea freight exports of its cabin service supplies from the UK to a US distribution centre in Chicago, and to handle some domestic overland traffic within the UK.

CEVA Logistics has renewed its partnership with Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM), extending the existing contract for another three years.

CEVA Ground Europe, based in Antwerp, Belgium, will continue to manage HUM’s European inbound logistics operations, handling the collection of parts from suppliers in more than forty locations across Europe and transporting them to the HUM production plant in Swindon, UK. CEVA Ground ensures that the parts are delivered, handled and presented correctly to meet HUM’s build program requirements.

CEVA also manages third-party hauliers and transport providers, as well as transportation planning and delivery control activities.

Norbert Dentressangle has secured two new contracts with Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE).

CCE has selected Norbert Dentressangle to manage the warehousing and distribution operation for its UK vending business, operating a centralised hub for the handling, storage, pre-delivery inspection and distribution of more vending and cooling machines per year.

The operation involves the movement of approximately 34,000 vending machines and coolers per year, with delivery and installation of the equipment at customer premises throughout the UK as well as the collection of withdrawn equipment from customer premises, which is returned to the central hub for inspection or disposal.

Norbert Dentressangle also handles the distribution of CCE’s post-mix and dispensing equipment throughout the UK, providing a specialist solution for bars, pubs, clubs and restaurants. The storage operation occupies 50,000 sq.ft of dedicated space within Norbert Dentressangle’s shared-user warehouse at Kiln Farm in Milton Keynes, enabling the accommodation of additional volumes on an as required basis.

In addition to its core warehousing operations, Norbert Dentressangle is responsible for product customisation and for the disposal of end of life product under the WEEE Directive and Hazardous Waste Regulations.

The second CCE contract, also based at Kiln Farm, covers the distribution of consumer beverages. This involves the collection and delivery of around 86,000 pallets per year from five CCE manufacturing and distribution centres to retailer and wholesaler RDCs. This operation will be supported by a second base in Yorkshire, served by a fleet of dedicated and shared vehicles.

After shipping thousands of garments for the UK high street from Hong Kong, Turkey and China for Voi Jeans last year, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK has been awarded the airfreight contract for all Voi Jeans imports to coincide with the launch of the brand’s new range this month. With the majority of shipments flying out of Hong Kong, Hellmann ships the garments to its air- and sea freight office in Manchester for distribution to Voi Jeans‘ warehousing facilities. Predicting a similar level of activity for 2011, with the addition of airfreight from India, Hellmann UK will be moving shipments from the Far East and Turkey on direct flights where possible, using its space agreements with major airlines.
