Rickmers-Linie adds Bilbao to its schedule

Port in Northern Spain becomes a regularly called destination of Rickmers-Linie (Hamburg):

Hamburg-based Rickmers-Linie is to make regular monthly calls at the Port of Bilbao in Northern Spain from now. After several calls in the past months, the German liner specialist for project cargoes and heavy lifts puts Bilbao on its list of regular calls. The Port of Bilbao is one of Spain’s most important ports for breakbulk and heavylift cargo.

The basis for the decision to introduce scheduled calls in Bilbao was a major contract to ship high-speed trains built by Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF) from Bilbao to Dammam in Saudi Arabia.

The monthly calls in Bilbao will be provided through the upgrading of Rickmers-Linie’s Europe – Middle East/India service. In addition Rickmers’ eastbound Round-the-World Pearl String service will continue to make calls in Bilbao on demand. Depending on the development of the volumes, Rickmers-Linie has the ability to make up to three calls a month in the Spanish port.
