Modest expectations with DPD Austria

DPD Austria achieved slight increase in turnover and parcels in 2008

The outlook for 2009 of the Management of the private parcel service DPD Austria is quite modest. “Those who are able to keep the level of 2008 will count among the winners“, Managing Director Rainer Schwarz said in a prognosis. “Unfortunately we are not able to estimate the total consequences of the current crisis,” he added.

Last year had already been a big challenge for Austria’s parcel services. Nonetheless DPD Austria managed to consolidate their market position in the B2B segment, which is shown by the increase of the transported volumes by 1.8 per cent to 36.4 million parcels. Turnover amounted to EUR 144.8 million which is 1.3 above the level of the previous year.

DPD Austria (Direct Parcel Distribution) based in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna is Austria’s leading private parcel service. Acting as a specialist for business to business-consignments the enterprise offers various services for national and international parcel consignments. Around 1,400 employees are rendering the services, using a fleet consisting of more than 900 vehicles.
