Romania: Euro Gate Terminal Ploiesti opened

Euro Gate Terminal Ploiesti provides new options in unaccompanied combined transport from/to Romania:

These days a new era begins for unaccompanied combined traffic with Romania. Last week the first segment of the new terminal for road/rail throughput was opened in Ploiesti. The facility built by the Belgian Alinso Group with a total investment at the amount of EUR 7 million was named Euro Gate Terminal Ploiesti and is operated by Rail Cargo Austria. In the initial stage there will be capacities available to store about 1,025 TEU. Until the end of 2013 the terminal shall be expanded to 5,000 TEU. “In the initial stage three block trains per week will be operated from Wels to Romania“, they announced at the opening ceremony.

Euro Gate Terminal Ploiesti has an advantageous geographic situation thanks to the short distance to Bucharest and the centres of Romania’s automotive and heavy industry in Pitesti and Targoviste. Also customers in the region of Galati may now profit from these alternatives to road transport and river shipping solutions, as neutral observers state.
