Royal Mail agrees lease for new delivery office in Deptford

Royal Mail has made an agreement to lease two units at SEGRO Park Deptford, in South East London, that will become the company’s new delivery office.

The new office, made up of two units totalling over 9,000ft², will replace its existing facility in Deptford – currently located on Creek Road.

With each unit being recently refurbished, SEGRO confirms that the office will benefit from “the provision of new cladding and the installation of photovoltaic panels, a green wall, and electric vehicle charging points”.

Both SEGRO and Royal Mail have set sustainability targets. By 2030, the property investment and development firm has committed to reducing the absolute level of carbon emissions from its operated properties by at least 42% (compared to a 2020 baseline), with Managing Director of Group Operations Paul Dunne claiming: “We will be net zero by 2030.”

Meanwhile, Royal Mail has set a target of 2040 to “become a net zero carbon business across all emission scopes”.

Speaking on the decision to lease the units at SEGRO Park Deptford, Stephen Molloy, Regional Operations Director at Royal Mail, said: “This is an excellent opportunity for us to move to an up-to-date facility and improve the working environment for our people. We hope to have transferred to the new location by end of September.”
