Safmarine: New service from the Mediterranean Sea to South Africa

“225 Southern Africa Mediterranean Service“ of the Safmarine shipping company has its maiden journey these days

 

The Safmarine shipping company has added a new scheduled service to its portfolio. On 8 February M/V Macuba starts its maiden journey from Algeciras to Durban in South Africa. The route segment is a fixed part of the schedule of the “225 Southern Africa Mediterranean Service“. Six vessels of 1,100 TEU capacity will operate the new weekly service. In a press release the Safmarine management emphasises on the high reefer capacity of the tonnage in use. In “northbound“ traffic ex Durban the vessels will have stopovers in Cape Town and Dakar (Senegal).

Safmarine Container Lines with its headquarters in Antwerp is affiliated to the A.P. Moller Maersk group. With a 60 vessels fleet the enterprise mainly serves the routes between Africa, Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent.
