Second SDL location started “just in time”

Logistics facility in Tyrol – Vomp becomes distribution centre for SDL in western Austria

SDL Handelsges.m.b.H. starts the summer season with an optimised network. In Vomp in the Land Tyrol they recently opened another logistics facility. The location is used as a basis for an optimised service to their regular customer McDonald’s Austria. SDL Head DI Gerald Höller expects the new location to discharge the distribution centre in “Food Town“ in Korneuburg.

SDL operates a leased an adapted facility with 3,200 m² hall area in Vomp. The location serves as a distribution centre for the supply of more than 30 McDonald’s restaurants in the Laender Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Salzburg. “We will be able to respond more quickly and flexible to the needs of individual companies, and we will be able to reduce costs“, Höller discloses to the Österreichische Verkehrszeitung.

Being the Austrian subsidiary of the Havi Logistics Group (Duisburg) SDL acts as a wholesale and foreign trade company with a focus on logistics (goods procurement, quality securing, warehousing, distribution). Last year their 130 employees have generated a turnover of around EUR 140 million (including merchandises). Based on the logistics centre in Korneuburg, near Vienna, which offers 7,000 pallet slots, and their own fleet consisting of 23 trailer trucks, they handled around 75,000 tons of goods for customers like McDonald’s, Cinnabon, dm drogerie markt and Yuu’n Mee.
