Change in DB Schenker Rail Executive Management

Alexander Hedderich – new head of DB Schenker Rail

A personnel change is to take place within the Management Board of DB Schenker Rail. Dr. Alexander Hedderich, currently head of Corporate Development at DB, is to assume overall responsibility for the pan-European rail business unit as of September 1, 2009. At the same time he will be appointed Member of the Executive Board of the Deutsche Bahn AG. The takeover of both functions is still subject to the approval by the competent committees. Dr. Klaus Kremper (47), longstanding head of DB Schenker Rail and Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Bahn AG, is to leave the company at the end of August by his own request.

The DB Schenker Rail business unit manages DB’s rail freight transportation activities in ten European countries supported by a workforce of around 36,000 employees. In 2008, Europe’s largest rail freight carrier generated revenues of EUR 4.65 billion and an operating profit (EBIT) of EUR 307 million.
