Strong 2010 for APL container shipping company

Jump in turnover and clearly positive results for APL liner shipping company in the 2010 business year

 

The APL liner shipping company, a company of the NOL Group (Singapore) posted growth for all relevant key figures in 2010. With 2.83 million FEUs (forty-foot equivalent unit) the company transported 24 per cent more containers than in the same period last year. The average revenue per FEU improved 22 per cent. The average utilization rate for vessels was 94 per cent, APL says in its hot-off-the-press annual report.

In the reporting period APL profited from strongly risen demand from shippers and rate increases in all trade lanes. They reported revenue of USD 8.3 billion, which soared up 47 per cent from 2009. Core EBIT turned from a previous loss of USD 698 million in 2009 to USD 490 million in the 2010 fiscal period.
