Strong phase for Goodman throughout Europe

E-Commerce, automotive industry, trade and the logistics industry fuelled the heights of Goodman, a property developing company, in Europe

Goodman was identified as Europe’s biggest logistics property developer in the annual ranking of the international specialist journal PropertyEU – for the fourth time in a row. In the last three years the group has developed about 2 million m² of logistics area on continental Europe. More than 800,000 m2 are currently being developed.The ranking of PropertyEU covers the period from 2012 to 2014 and counts all completed and ongoing developments in this period. Goodman’s business was, among other things, favored by the fact that the group has established itself as a leading developer of e-commerce logistics. Moreover there was a strong demand from the automotive industry, trade and the logistics and transport industry.

In 2014 Goodman has completed some of the largest developments in Europe. These include, for example, a 123,000 m2 Fulfilment Center for Amazon in Poland, which was the thirteenth Goodman project for the online retailer in Europe. The cooperation has been existing since 2006.

In addition, Goodman has almost doubled the size of the Zalando warehouse in Mönchengladbach from 78,000 to 134,000 m2 in the reporting period, thus creating the largest logistics center for pure online fashion trade in Europe. In Poland, the group has developed 122,000 m2, among others, for the Mousquetaires Group, a retail chain, and market-Detal, a local dealer.

Germany is still the most important market for Goodman in Europe, with 16 new developments that were started within the last nine months. Highlights include completions as part of the Goodman Interlink Hamburg  port project with two prominent customers from the aviation industry: Airbus and Diehl Comfort Modules. After completion of all ongoing developments, the portfolio of the real estate group in Germany covers plants with a total of about 3 million m2.

In 2014 Goodman has strengthened the growing market share in Poland with two pre-lets for logistics centers in Wroclaw and Poznan. Furthermore, the group has expanded its logistics park at Krakow airport and at the port of Gdansk.

From the perspective of Goodman, Southern Europe has gained drive. Close to Paris, the group has signed an agreement for a new development for Cdiscount, a French e-commerce giant. In addition, a new project for DB Schenker in the port of Strasbourg was signed. In Greater Barcelona Goodman has also started the largest new development in the region for years: The result will be a 40,000 m2 distribution center for Decathlon, a sports goods retailer.
