Third edition of “Manual on Danube Navigation”

via donau presents the new edition of its “Manual on Danube Navigation”; Logistikum Steyr as co-author

via donau – Österreichische Wasserstraßen-Gesellschaft mbH presented a new edition of the Manual of Danube Navigation at the shipping station “Motto am Fluss” in Vienna. The product of the National Action Plan for Danube Navigation (NAP) is contributing to popularise the new multimodal approach of European politics on infrastructure, Isabelle Ryckbost, director of the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP) emphasised on this occasion.

The third edition of the manual was upgraded with the innovations of the past years and is now available in German and English. The entirely revised book comes leaner, which can be explained by concentrating on its function as a handy, comprehensible reference work, as well as by the fact that further information is available online. The manual addresses a wide range of readers, ranging from sector experts and interested laypersons, to apprentices and students. In addition to a compact glossary, a “multimodal” map of road, rail and waterways in the Danube/Rhine and Black Sea regions contribute to user friendliness.

As Hans-Peter Hasenbichler, managing director of via donau, emphasised during the presentation, the big number of sponsors of the manual reflects its importance for the sector. In addition to the Platinum sponsor – the Romanian shipping company Transport Trade Services SA – the publication was also supported in terms of content by the Logistikum of the University of Applied Science in Steyr, contributing the chapter on multimodal transport on the Danube.
