Three new Boeing 777-200 freighters for TNT Airways

TNT Airways operates new aircraft to reduce its dependence from commercial scheduled flight traffic and external, limited contract capacities

TNT Airways and Guggenheim Aviation Partners, LLC have signed a leasing and delivery agreement for three new Boeing 777-200 long range-freighters. The aircrafts will be used for the first time in July 2011 and at the end of next year, respectively. The machines can carry a maximum load of 107 tons each. They can cover more than 13,000 kilometres.

The B777-200 freighters are designed for operations on the long-distance flights between Europe and Asia. On these routes TNT operates currently a fleet of two own B747-400ERF freighters and two B747-400ERF freighters leased on the short term. The new B777 freighters shall reduce dependency of the company from commercial scheduled flight traffic and from external, limited contract capacities. In addition they will ensure the capacity required for the company’s growth in Asia.
