Three new business areas in the Fercam Group

Fercam AG: Grand opening of the logistics center Bologna and entry into the business areas relocations, art transport and trade fair logistics
 
With an investment of 16,5 mill. Euros one of the most important logistics centers operated by the South Tyrolean Fercam Group was built on a 38.000 m² site in the GVZ/ Interporto of Bologna after a construction time of only ten months. The state-of-the art facility with 93 loading gates offers a total of 15.000 m²  of space with 26.000 pallet storage positions for logistics, while an additional  7.000 m² are used for cross docking and the handling of goods. 
 
 This is a cornerstone in the development of the location Bologna which is one of the most important hubs for our company“, says general manager Dr. Thomas Baumgartner in his speech at the opening which was celebrated with numerous guests active in politics and business. “We want to continue to invest here and are convinced that we will be able to keep up the successful growth course in the whole Emilia Romagna region by offering even more improved services to our customers and at the same time we want to create new, important jobs”, as Baumgartner says in conclusion. 
 
 Since starting their activities at the begining of this year, the Fercam branches in the Emilia Romagna handled a total of 81.000 consignments which equals a daily average of 675 units. Fercam has been active in the Emilia Romagna since the year 2000 and operates three company-owned branches in Bologna, Parma and Modena. In 2000 the Bologna branch employed a staff of six in the administration and the warehouse as well as five external employees. Today the newly constructed warehouse has 170 employees, 44 in the administration, 42 in the warehouse and 84 external employees. The Fercam Bologna turnover has increased from 2,3 mill. Euros in 2000 to 16,2 million Euros in 2012. 
 
 Fercam AG with headquarters in Bolzano generated a turnover of 500 million Euros in the past business year. With specialised business areas the company offers all kinds of transport- and logistics services all over Europe: full truck load (full load transports via road and road/rail), international distribution with daily departures to places all over Europe, logistics and national general cargo transports as well as “Air & Ocean” (sea- and airfreight worldwide). Fercam is presently represented in Italy with 37 and with an additional 18 locations in Europe as well as with two subsidiaries in Northern Africa (Tangier/Morocco and Rades/Tunisia) and operates a very close-meshed, efficient correspondent and partner network all over the world. Since May 2013 Fercam has also been active in the business areas relocations, art transports and trade fair logistics.
