Touax Rom presents new Danube barge

The private Romanian river shipping company Touax Rom S.A. (Constanza) opens up a new chapter in river shipping on the Danube. On September 10 Executive Director Vasile Stancu presented a new multipurpose barge with special performance figures at the Danube port Mierka Donauhafen Krems.

With its 88.5 metres length and 11.45 metres width the barge has a cargo capacity of 1,585 tons at a 2.25 metres draft. In Danube traffic it can be loaded in three levels with up to 144 TEU. Touax Rom puts 12 new barges into operation, of which Vasile Stancu expects positive effects on the development of Danube traffic between Austria and Constanza. In addition to containers the barges are also suitable to transport grain and steel.
