Turkish Cargo to serve Budapest Airport now with a freighter service

Budapest Airport announces a new freight-only service of Turkish Cargo and soon start of construction works for the new Cargo City:

Budapest Airport is called by a new freight-only liner service. With immediate effect Turkish Cargo flies to the airport of Hungary’s capital in a weekly frequency from Istanbul. The service is operated with an Airbus A310 freighter, offering 40 tons of air freight capacity. Flights to Istanbul start from Budapest Airport on Saturdays at 6.15 am. The new freight service complements the “belly-hold capacity“ on the ten weekly PAX courses operated by Turkish Airlines on the routes between these two cities.

The airport of Hungary’s capital showed a string uptrend in air freight business the first four months. The year-on-year increase of 30 per cent in air freight volume confirms the aims of the Budapest Airport Zrt. to quickly implement the new Cargo City. Construction works for the 140,000 m² project shall start this year and be finished by the end of 2012. 75 per cent of the shares of Budapest Airport Zrt. are held by the German company Hochtief AirPort. The rest of the shares is owned by the state of Hungary.
