Unifeeder pushes market presence in Russia and the Baltic States

Short Sea shipping company Unifeeder introduces new regular service to Kaliningrad

After the takeover of the Polish-Cypriot shipping company IMCL (Inter Marine Container Line Ltd.) at the end of 2009, and the opening of an own location in St. Petersburg, Unifeeder, a leading provider of container transportations and Short Sea Shipping Services in northern Europe, is now introducing a liner service to Kaliningrad. The new route in the Baltic Sea plays a main role in the Russian operations of the Danish logistics enterprise. The major part of the traffic is operated for the electronics, consumer goods and automotive industry.

“We offer the companies a firm route network, so they can profit from regularity and security in planning. This is very important to large customers – like from the automotive industry – for whom we transport freight in a liner service between Poland, Germany and Russia“, says Michael Bonde, Director Sales and Development Eastern Europe. Not least for this reason Unifeeder strives to consolidate its position in the Russian market. They plan to open further offices in Moscow and southern Russia.

The private enterprise is headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark, and was established in 1977. In 2008 the around 275 employees of the Unifeeder Group at 10 locations in 9 countries (St. Petersburg, Gdansk, Antwerp, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Helsingborg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Oslo and Rotterdam) generated a turnover of about EUR 406 million, with a forwarded volume of 1.6 million TEU.
