Uponor uses the logistics competence of tectraxx

High tech logistics enterprise tectraxx provides new packing and logistics services for Uponor company

From the start of September the hi-tech logistician tectraxx has been serving a new customer. Uponor, a provider of plastic pipe systems, has entrusted the partner with warehousing and order picking for its supply division. The parent company Gebrüder Weiss will be handling deliveries for tectraxx.

To facilitate order picking of these bulky and heavy synthetic pipes, Uponor has acquired a purpose-built rolling dispenser which is to be operated exclusively by specially trained tectraxx staff. This one-off item of machinery was designed and constructed by a Viennese company and then transported to the tectraxx site in Wiener Neudorf, where it was installed ready for use.

“The reason we chose tectraxx is that our tubes and pipes will be stored in a dry and heatable warehouse where they can be cut to size all year round without worrying about the weather,” says Rudolf Donner, Managing Director at Uponor. “Moreover tectraxx is a subsidiary of Gebrüder Weiss, and thus can offer the perfect combination of order picking and logistics.”

The new roller can dispense pipes of up to 200 mm in diameter and cut them to the nearest millimetre. “This huge machine has enabled us to reduce manipulation time by a factor of three,” says Dragan Djenadic, Key Account Manager at tectraxx. Once picked and trimmed to size, the pipes are then delivered by tectraxx parent company Gebrüder Weiss to destinations throughout Austria within 24 hours. They are then used by Uponor customers in private, commercial and government construction projects.
