UPS: New IT application for urgently needed spare parts

UPS establishes a new web-based system to manage global service orders and stock for urgent spare parts deliveries. The UPS Post Sales Order Management System (OMS) permits companies to recall their spare parts stocks, select the ideal delivery route, place online orders and track consignments from the warehouse to the end customer.

Thanks to better transparency and control of global stock, but also to important service orders, companies from industries like high tech/electronics, medical technology and aviation and space flight can respond faster and more efficiently to customers’ demands. The Post Sales-OMS provides them with regularly updated stock data. Thus they can locate the nearest warehouse and select the best route to keep delivery date.

The new system offers many functions that support global spare parts management. It gives an insight into the whole delivery process, so the user can understand exactly when an order is placed, collected, loaded at the airport and delivered. Automatic e-mail and fax messages inform customers about every step of the dispatch and possible changes in the flight schedule.
