VTG further pursues growth course

VTG Group registered substantial increases in turnover and results

VTG Aktiengesellschaft (limited liability company), which counts among the leading rail logistics and wagon leasing enterprises in Europe, continued its growth course successful within the first nine months of the current financial year. Turnover and operative result (EBITDA) showed a considerable rise compared to last year. The group-turnover rose 12 percent to EUR 450.7 million, while the EBITDA was increased by 18.9 percent to EUR 116.9 million.

The wagon leasing division contributed substantially to the positive figures of the group during the first nine months of 2008. VTG registers a continuous high demand for transport-capacities in the core market Europe. The procurement of 1,700 new wagons that are ready to be delivered mirrors this fact; more than 80 percent of these wagons are already leased. The wagon fleet of the group operating in the North-American rail freight market, where VTG has been active since January 2008, had been enlarged by 80 percent to around 1,800 wagons. In total VTG had a fleet consisting of around 49,300 rail cargo wagons on September 30. The turnover of the wagon leasing division increased 13.6 percent to EUR 216.9 million, compared to the reference period of last year – EUR 190.9 million.

The rail logistics division is mainly acting as a rail forwarder and concentrates on border-crossing transports. This division was able to profit from a continuously rising demand in this field. Turnover rose 11.8 percent to EUR 131.0 million. The tank container logistics division registered considerable increases particularly in transportations to Russia, the CIS and Turkey. The turnover improved by 8.9 percent to EUR 102.8 million.
