Kuwaiti airline Wataniya Airways opens liner service to Vienna by June

The Vienna Airport announces a new customer acquisition from the Arabian area. On 2 June 2010 Wataniya Airways will introduce a direct connection from Kuwait City to Vienna and the return flight. The airline will operate three flights per week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Airbus A320 is scheduled to take off in Kuwait City at 9.45 a.m. and to land at 2.05 p.m. in Vienna. The return flight will depart from Vienna at 3 p.m. and land at 8.45 p.m. in Kuwait City.

Abdulsalam Al Bahar, Chairman and Managing Director of Wataniya Airways “We expect Vienna to become the third important destination in Europe apart from Istanbul and Rome, and a key part of our global flight programme. This new service will enhance the already strong commercial relationships between Kuwait and Austria.”

Wataniya Airways was founded in 2005. The Kuwaiti airline operates a fleet of five Airbus A320. They will shortly take over the sixth aircraft. The route network covers 11 destinations, including Amman, Bahrain, Damascus, Dubai and Cairo. The airline started its activities in air cargo business in December 2009.
