Weltbild Österreich renews partnership with A. Schmid Logistik

Andreas Schmid Logistik AG is building a new logistics centre in Gersthofen and continues to carry out goods distribution in Austria on behalf of the Weltbild publishing group for another two years
 
Andreas Schmid Logistik AG continues to serve its client Weltbild Österreich. They renewed their cooperation agreement for another two years. Hence the forwarding company from Gersthofen in the German state Baden Württemberg continues to be in charge of goods distribution to the 35 Austrian branches and of handling returns from the branches to the German headquarters of the Weltbild publishing group in Augsburg. Moreover Andreas Schmid takes over the transport of parcels ordered via the online portal Weltbild.at or the classic catalogue. The parcels are delivered on a daily basis from the Weltbild logistics centre in Augsburg to the two big post freight centres in Austria for delivery to the end-customers.
 
The publishing group Weltbild GmbH counts among Europe’s biggest online, books and media trading companies. 6,400 employees generated a turnover of about EUR 1.657 billion in 2011. In Austria 237 staff lately generated an annual turnover of EUR 80 million.
 
Meanwhile Andreas Schmid Logistik AG expands the infrastructure at its site in Gersthofen. In a press release the company’s management announces the building of a new logistics centre, including a 50 tonnes portal crane facility directly situated at the motorway A8. The hall is equipped with five loading ramps and one ground level access. After the planned start of operations at the logistics centre by the end of 2012 Andreas Schmid Logistik AG will have 184,000 m² logistics area.
