Withdrawal of Reinhard Lange as CEO of Kuehne + Nagel group

Globally operating Kuehne + Nagel group starts looking for a new Chief Executive Officer
 
Due to health reasons Reinhard Lange, CEO of the Kuehne + Nagel group since 2009, asked the supervisory board of the Kuehne + Nagel 
 
International AG to release him from his functions as chairman of the management board with effect from the general meeting on 7 May 2013. He will be available to the company in advisory capacity until his contract expires on 31 December 2013. To facilitate the transition to a new chief executive officer, for whom the group started already looking, a management team headed by Karl Gernandt, executive vice chairman, will take over the duties of Lange.
 
Initially there will be streamlining of regional structures and their management boards. Karl Gernandt and the board members responsible for the divisions, Hans-Joachim Schacht (sea freight), Tim Scharwath (air freight and sales), Stefan Paul (land transport) and Detlef Trefzger (contract logistics) will be in charge of the implementation. With the group s unchanged performance orientation Gerard van Kesteren, chief financial officer and financial controller, is playing an important role.
 
During his more than 40-years activity at Kuehne + Nagel Reinhard Lange, contributed to the success of the group. Starting his career at the Bremen headquarters, he was initially a member of the Asia-Pacific regional management and the national management in Germany as well as director of the Canadian Kuehne + Nagel organisation. In 1999 he was appointed to the management board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG. The successful development of global shipping business, in which Kuehne + Nagel maintains the leading position among global players of the logistics industry, is a significant part of his merit. Kuehne + Nagel employs more than 63,000 people at more than 1,000 locations in over 100 countries.
