Acquisition brings additional capacities for Lehnkering in Hamburg

Duisburg-based Lehnkering group takes over warehouse and staff of K+P Gefahrgut Logistik GmbH

Effective 1 Mai this year the Lehnkering group acquires the dangerous goods warehouse of K+P Gefahrgut Logistik GmbH in Hamburg. The operating site with a capacity of 15,000 pallet slots will be integrated into the company’s Distribution Logistics & Services (DLS) division. Lehnkering is also taking over the staff previously employed there.

"This acquisition is enabling us to consistently pursue the growth strategy in order to expand our market position in warehouse logistics at one of the most important European chemicals ports," says Uwe Willhaus, COO of Lehnkering division Distribution Logistics & Services. Lehnkering has been operating three business sites in Hamburg since 2009. The additional site will particularly serve international customers as an industrial warehouse, for imports and distribution. Its proximity to the major container terminals and the certified comprehensive storage capacities for hazardous goods provide customers in the chemicals and pharmaceutical industry an advantage.

Lehnkering is one of the leading logistics services providers in Central and Northwestern Europe with annual turnover totalling approximately EUR 580 million and more than 2,700 employees. Specialising in the petrochemical, chemical and steel industry, the company provides its customers with individual solutions consisting of classical logistics services (Logistics) and far-reaching value-added services (Services).
