DB Schenker invests further into intermodal hub

Intermodal hubs shall further boost rail logistics of DB Schenker in the region Southeastern Europe

At a press conference in Vienna top representatives of DB Schenker showed a clear commitment towards reinforcing rail logistics in Southeastern Europe. Against the background of breaks in rail traffic, increasing cargo volumes and the importance of the protection of the environment they want to further invest into intermodal hubs. Elmar Wieland (CEO Schenker & Co AG Austria and Southeastern Europe), Klaus Lippstreu (Director Rail South East Europe Schenker & Co AG) and Reinhard Bamberger (Head Rail Logistics and Forwarding).

In the region Southeastern Europe, which is managed from Vienna, DB Schenker employs more than 500 staff in the rail logistics segment. These experts move more than 5 million tons of goods per year on the railway. The core product consists of “PowerRailer“ block trains. Last year 2,258 departures to Southeastern Europe have been organised under this title with two forwarding partners.
