Airfreight: DB Schenker starts scanning service for Austria

DB Schenker Logistics can now offer X ray scanning systems for airfreight shipments in Frankfurt, Salzburg and Vienna

DB Schenker Logistics announced the introduction of a new scanning service for airfreight shipments across Austria. In a folder the management informs about the start of operation of the X ray scanning systems in Frankfurt, Salzburg (together with a partner) and Vienna.

With this step the company supports domestic customers and customers in Southeastern Europe in the control of airfreight shipments, which will be required in the future, they explain.

The transitional period for ‘known shippers’ of air freight consignments in the European Union ends on 28 April 2013. From 29 April only companies authorised as ‘validated shippers’ by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport and Innovation (BMVIT), will be able to send their goods as ‘secured’ without any further controlling procedure.
