Awards for Kuehne + Nagel and cargo-partner

Trainer trophy 2011 for Kuehne + Nagel Austria – cargo-partner wins 1st prize of the Energy Globe Austria 2011 in the category air:

The Austrian branches of the globally operating transport and logistics service suppliers Kuehne + Nagel and cargo-partner have reason to celebrate. Lower Austria’s economic chamber awarded the trainer trophy 2011 to Kuehne + Nagel. This award honours enterprises for their particular commitment to apprenticeships and promotion of the young. The cargo-partner forwarding company won the 1st prize for its commitment regarding environmental protection and sustainability in the category air of the Energy Globe Austria 2011.

Kuehne + Nagel trains more than 50 apprentices in Austria in the professions forwarder and logistician. According to a principle of rotation the apprentices get to know different departments of the enterprise and various segments of forwarding business. “We are counting on our apprentices as future managers and experts. Hence training of apprentices is a management issue for us“, emphasises Franz Braunsberger, managing director of Kuehne + Nagel Austria.

cargo-partner was the winner of the Energy Globe Austria 2011 in the category air. They submitted a package of measures that includes fuel saving training for employees and a new house technology, as well as increased utilisation of transport means and change from air to sea freight. The optimisation of transportations saves 19,113 tons of CO2 emissions per year. This equals 2,742 million litres of diesel and 3.5 million litres of bunker oil, in total minus 6.2 million litres of fuel per year.
