CKYH carriers enhance cooperation

CKYH carriers take action against crisis

At a meeting in Jeju in South Korea the top representatives of the CKYH carriers (Coscon, “K“ Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin Shipping) agreed upon intensifying their collaboration as a response to the difficult conditions within the global container shipping industry. In addition to rationalising east/west services the alliance plans to expand traffics on the north-south routes and in niche markets. Moreover the Managers agreed upon a tighter cooperation in terms of using own vessels and terminals. The joint use of equipment, feeder services and services of third party companies shall cut costs.

The east/west transport-offer of the four container shipping companies will be restructured. As of April 5 loops will be on the schedule for the routes between Asia and the northern European continent, while 3 loops will be available between Asia and the Mediterranean. As of now the CKYH Alliance is represented with one loop in transatlantic trade as well.
