Czech AWT Group streamlines structures for land transport

Rail transportations and combined transport to gain even more importance for AWT Group in the future

A structural reorganisation is to take place within the transport and logistics division of the AWT Group in the coming weeks and months. The Management’s aim is to consolidate their leading position as a provider of transport services on the rail and in combined rail/road traffic.

In parallel the enterprise announced the liquidation of their fleet for road cargo transport before February/March 2011. The reason they state is the lack of perspectives regarding the generation of value added. The subsidiary AWT Cechofracht is to take over the organisation of the remaining activities in the international land haulage segment. It will therefore open an office in Ostrava.

AWT Group headquartered in Doprava in the Czech Republic is by their own account a leading provider of transport and logistics services in Central and Eastern Europe. The company that arose from the change of the name of OKD Doprava last spring, has been growing strongly by numerous acquisitions in the past years. As for the rail and combined transport segment they have their own terminals available in the Czech Republic (Ostrava-Paskov) and Byelorussia (Brest).
