Dachser opens Seveso-II warehouse in Ploiesti

Lighthouse project in Romania boosts Dachser’s position in the dangerous goods logistics business in Southeastern Europe:

The network of the Dachser group in Romania was upgraded. A few days ago operation was started at the dangerous goods warehouse at the site in Ploiesti, offering about 6,500 m² and 11,500 pallet slots. The facility built with an investment of EUR 10 million is currently the only warehouse of a logistics provider in Romania that is approved according to the European Community directive 96/82/EG (Seveso II).

“The facility in Ploiesti is a lighthouse project in line with the expansion of our European logistics network“, emphasises Michael Schilling, managing director European Network Management & Logistics Systems, Dachser. “With this commitment the enterprise sets standards for this entire growth region.“

Dachser Romania implemented the new warehouse with the support of Liegl & Dachser. The Hungarian joint venture operates a dangerous goods warehouse according to the strict Seveso II-directions in Pilisvörösvár near Budapest since 2006. “Combined with the links to the Eurohub in Bratislava, we can offer efficient and secure contract logistics for this region to international customers from the chemical industry“, explains Engelbert Liegl, Managing Director Liegl & Dachser Hungary.

In Ploiesti dangerous goods of the VCI classes 2, 3, 4.1, 6.1, 8 and 10-13 can be stored securely. The facility is divided into six fire segments, which are separated through fire walls and doors. Each rack level is equipped with sprinklers with foam additives. Moreover there are fire alarms and sensors sensitive to inflammable as well as toxic gases. The floor of the hall is waterproof and repels oil and chemicals. “The new facility emphasises our competence for dangerous goods handling. Its safety arrangements comply with state-of-the-art technology“, Steve Heidner, central dangerous goods management Dachser, announces proudly.
