Damco reinforces its committment in southern Germany and Austria

New branch of Damco in Munich strives for growth in the air freight and supply chain management segments:

Damco Germany GmbH is to open an office in Hallbergmoos near Munich on October 4. The team of five, headed by Mario Helkert, Cluster Branch Manager Damco Germany GmbH, wants to boost the company’s activities in all segments in Bavaria and neighbouring Austria. In particular the market share of the air cargo and supply chain management services shall be increased.

„We want to support the growth of the airport Munich through our own consolidated cargo and Consol-shipments from the cargo hub Munich“, explains Mario Helkert. In addition he sees god opportunities to win new customers through innovative supply chain management solutions. There are already reputable enterprises from the high tech and sports articles industry, who are using the company’s services.

Damco counts among the leading 3PL logistics service providers, specialising on customised forwarding and supply chain solutions. In 2010 the enterprise had 9,500 employees at more than 280 locations in 90 countries, who generated more than USD 2.7 billion in turnover. Being an independent company of the A.P. Moller – Maersk group, Damco handles about 2.4 million TEU of sea freight and supply chain management orders as well as more than 75,000 tons of air freight this year.
