DB Schenker drives to the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013
Experts from the DB SCHENKERsportsevents branch in Graz assume tasks as the official logistics partner of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2013 in Schladming, Styria
DB Schenker is about to tackle another major sports event. The enterprise will be the official logistics partner of the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, taking place from 4 to 17 February 2013 in Schladming/Planai-Hochwurzen, Styria. By the end of 2012 DB Schenker had handled the logistics of the promotional tour in Greenland and Iceland.
During the preparation period for the major sports event the logistics team of the DB SCHENKERsportsevents branch in Graz organise storage and transport of tribunes, event equipment and sponsors equipment. So far about 200 tables and 160 cable conduits for the local media centre were transported from Vienna to Schladming.
The international forwarder will also become active for the media centre – a central base for about 30 broadcasting, TV and radio stations. Soon camera equipment of the TV broadcaster “Eurosport” will be transported from France to Schladming. Immediately after the end of the World Ski Championships DB Schenker will organise a special transport for NRK, the Norvegian tv channel, carrying cameras, TV equipment and cable reels from Schladming to Calavese, where the Ski World Cup in Val de Fiemme will take place. Customs handling will be a major challenge in this transport, regarding punctual and reliable delivery.
„Particularly on the days before and during the World Championships our staff is required around the clock, to handle spontaneous orders locally in a flexible manner”, says Bernd Labugger, branch manager of DB Schenker in Graz. “Correct storage of high tech equipment that is sensitive to cold is of utmost importance. Moreover security is a major issue, as the professional camera equipment is of value and very sensitive regarding transport.”
