DB Schenker manages European logistics for Systagenix

Distribution concept for wound care products by DB Schenker

Since recently DB Schenker manages a distribution concept for wound care products. The enterprise was charged with the set up and operation of the European distribution network on behalf of Systagenix. In the next three years the new distribution concept shall grant a fast and cost-effective delivery to customers in Europe.

Having finalised the takeover of the former wound care business unit from the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Ethicon, Inc., Systagenix Wound Management is establishing its own global distribution network. With 700 employees worldwide and a production plant in the British village of Gargrave, North Yorkshire, the enterprise distributes its products in more than one hundred countries.

DB Schenker organises the European-wide logistics on behalf of Systagenix as well as supply of European endcustomers from the locations in Gargrave, Girona (Northern Spain) and Prague (Czech Republic). Girona and Prague serve as regional distribution centres for Southern and Middle Europe. The other European customers are supplied from the plant in Gargrave.

The concept of DB Schenker enables Systagenix to supply European consumers within 48 hours after reception of orders. The regional fulfilment centers are supplied every week from Gargrave and are integrated into a central inventory management. European-wide stock of inventory are managed efficiently and reduced to the required minimum. Transportation between these locations lies also in the hands of DB Schenker.
