DB Schenker opens new warehouse in Kragujevac in Serbia

DB Schenker Logistics supports AGC Automotive Europe with storage and delivery of components to the Serbian Fiat plant

DB Schenker Logistics has opened a new 1,500 m²-warehouse in Kragujevac in Serbia, specialising on logistics services for suppliers of the Fiat plant close-by. The first customer is AGC Automotive Europe. The supplier of glass components is cooperating with DB Schenker also in Slovakia – being in charge of deliveries for the Hyundai Kia Automotive group, and in Bremen with deliveries for Daimler.

The warehouse in Kragujevac is located only seven kilometers from the Fiat plant and has the status of a bonded warehouse, connected to Fiat’s free trade zone. Operations are fully controlled by DB Schenker’s own production supply system, which has been developed for supplier projects in the automotive industry. The glass components of AGC Automotive Europe are stored in the warehouse and then transported to the plant just in time according to the production demand. DB Schenker offers an EDI data flow for AGC in this project.

By launching this project in Kragujevac, DB Schenker has put another important step in strengthening its service portfolio in Serbia. Neven Marcesku, Managing Director of Schenker d.o.o., Belgrade says: “Contract logistics is an attractive growth market and the new business with a customer like AGC Automotive Europe is very important for us. It’s not only confirmation of our global strategy in the field of automotive logistics but also confirmation of our active approach to the Serbian logistics market.”

In Kragujevac, DB Schenker also offers warehousing space for further automotive suppliers engaged in the Fiat production. “We are very confident that we will be delivering solutions to further customers in Kragujevac soon,“ Marcesku adds.

The Serbian company of DB Schenker Logistics was established in 2002. Currently about 50 employees are working at five locations in Belgrade and the logistics centre Kragujevac.
