Despite decline Fraport announces air freight remains at a high level

Fraport AG (FRA) has announced that after the record 2010 year, air freight tonnage continues to normalise at a high level.

In the first three quarters of 2011 FRA handled some 1.6m metric tons of air freight, slipping 0.7%. In September 2011, FRA handled 176,222 metric tons of air freight, a decline of 5.3% year-on-year (see Ti Dashboard – Air Cargo: Airports).

"Taking into account the sagging September figures, we expect Frankfurt Airport’s air freight tonnage for the entire year 2011 to drop slightly," said Fraport AG’s executive board chairman Stefan Schulte.
