Deutsche Post DHL: Slight improvement in air and sea freight business

Deutsche Post DHL has to shed feathers in logistics business in the fiscal year 2009
 

Also the figures of Deutsche Post DHL (Bonn) are affected by the global economic crisis. From January to September 2009 turnover fell 16.4 per cent compared to last year, to EUR 33.8 billion. The operating result (EBIT) fell 80.2 percent to EUR 367 million. The underlying EBIT dropped 31 percent to EUR 947 million.

The Express division has a turnover of EUR 7.53 billion (minus 27.2 per cent) and a negative EBIT amounting to EUR 432 million. The Supply Chain division reported a turnover of EUR 9.28 billion and an operating result of minus EUR 37 million. The Global Forwarding, Freight division generated a turnover of EUR 7.87 billion (minus 25.5 per cent) and an EBIT of plus EUR 168 million (minus 41.9 per cent) for the period from January to September.

“Transport volumes in air and sea freight have improved sequentially in each quarter this year. In particular, marketing and sales initiatives in the areas of life science and consumer goods have had a positive effect, resulting in an expanded market position” the Deutsche Post DHL Group announces.
