DHL Freight expands network for temperature-controlled transports

DHL Freight Coldchain Service in more than 30 European countries

DHL Freight, the specialist for road transportations in Europe within the Deutsche Post DHL Group, substantially expanded the service concept for temperature-sensitive goods (Coldchain Transport Services). Since last week Valetta in Malta has been integrated into the network that covers more than 30 countries. In London and Milan two new temperature-controlled central warehouses were opened in 2009. In 2010 facilities in Eastern Europe and Scandinavia will follow, as the enterprise announces in a press release.

DHL Coldchain was designed for the European-wide transportation of part-deliveries for up to 20 pallets per consignment. About 500 special vehicles are available for these operations. Goods temperature is continuously controlled during the transportation and transmitted by “state of the art“- equipment to the central. According to DHL Freight, Coldchain Transport Services allows also customers in Malta, Russia and Turkey to use cost-efficient and temperature-controlled goods forwarding services in land transport. The service is adjusted to requirements of the life science industry.
