DHL Global Forwarding launches “Cool LCL Service“ from Europe

DHL to start direct service from Hamburg to Singapore for groupage transportation of temperature-sensitive goods:

DHL Global Forwarding offers a new solution for the transport of exclusive, temperature-sensitive food in small amounts from Germany and Europe to overseas. These days the air and sea freight specialist within the Deutsche Post DHL Group launches a groupage service with consistent cold chain with temperatures between 12 and 17 degrees Celsius, named “Cool LCL Service“. Up to now, only full container loads (FCL) or air freight were available for this kind of transportation.

The “Cool LCL Serivce“ starts with a weekly groupage container from Hamburg to Singapore with integrated options for further forwarding of shipments. On request, temperature-sensitive food from all over Europe can be transported to the DHL logistics centre in the port of Hamburg and then be shipped from there to the Southeast Asian island state. Further “Cool LCL Serivce”-destinations like Dubai, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, New York and Santos (Brazil) will soon be added.

"The demand for European specialities and exclusive products is constantly increasing all over the world. Therefore, we have combined our expertise in temperature-controlled goods with a new customized solution. With this new service our customers will have more new business opportunities, because small amounts can always be sent freshly and storage at the place of destination is no longer necessary", says Bernhard Stade, Vice President Ocean Freight Management Germany, DHL Global Forwarding. DHL operates the world’s largest LCL network with an annual freight volume of more than two million cubic meters.
