DSV Road drives to Austria for Outokumpu

Outokumpu Service Center in Willich charges DSV with national and international distribution tasks

The Danish transport and logistics service provider DSV attends to a new business from the steel logistics segment. The stainless steel specialist Outokumpu, mainly producing in Finland and Sweden, entered a three-years agreement with DSV Road. Since the start of this year the logistics service provider is in charge of national and international distribution on behalf of the Outokumpu Service Center in Willich (near Düsseldorf), as well as in-house logistics services.

In Willich Outokumpu operates its biggest location with 170 employees on 54,000 m² in Germany. Delivered stainless steel products are put into interim storage there and processed according to customer requirements. In 2010 they delivered more than 80,000 tons of customised stainless steel products. DSV Road is in charge of the complete organisation of all transport and dispatch services. Therefore six to ten DSV staff are working flexibly at Outokumpu.

„Our tasks cover the complete handling of incoming goods as well as loading and unloading“, explains David Hohnen, Business Development Manager DSV Road GmbH, who is in charge of the project. “We also carry out distribution of the finished stainless steel products within Germany and the European neighbouring countries“, he adds. “Around 15 per cent of the consignments go to Switzerland, Austria or the Benelux countries.“ The sizes of the consignments vary according to the customers between 100 kilograms to full loads.
